This week, we proudly hosted the MATE ROV Competition workshop for Plymouth.

The Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center was established in 1997 to further the education of Remotely Operated Vehicles (aka underwater robots).

This week’s Underwater Robotics and Engineering Design Professional Development workshop was held at the Fugro Academy Training Centre, and helped students learn about the fundamentals of ROV building. The programme’s aim is to inspire and challenge students to learn and creatively apply STEM to solve real-world problems.

The event culminated in students putting their ROV creations to the test in a controlled test tank. Well done to all involved!

This week’s workshop was sponsored by the MATE ROV Academy and funded by Fugro, with supported from the Marine Technology Society, Thales, University of Plymouth and Turnchapel Wharf.

Best of luck to everyone taking part in the MATE ROV Competition World Championships taking place at Thunder Bay Marine Sanctuary in Michigan later this summer.
